Topic : Is it important to live in a democracy?
First, what kind of system is 'Democracy'? To understand democracy easily, democracy is a governmental system in which we elect our own government through voting system. Democratic principles base on the people's rights, opportunities, and interests. So, it's like democracy system is based on the human right. Thus, democracy is a system preferred the right of people rather than the right of government. By looking that, I think we, ourselves, are the main characters rather than the head of state in democratic countries. So, we all know democracy as 'rule by people'.
In democracy, we have to elect the government officials by giving votes. Each one can give just one vote. And, that one vote is really precious as the life of us. It can change our days, our lives, and our world. We must pay attention to whom we vote. Democracy gives us to choose the right government. But, most people don't know about that. Some people don't know even their president's name and they are living in the democratic country. How weird it is!
People, whoever old or young, gather round in teashops, in front of houses, in everywhere, and criticise the country's conditions like how our government is disqualified, how democracy is useless, and so on. And, when I watch what they do for the country, they don't do anything. Even in elections, they just vote without paying any attention. They said government is bad. But, they, themselves, chose that government with their valuable votes. They said democracy is useless. And, they don't respect democracy. They don't follow the democtratic rules. They just know how to blame to whom. If we all stay like that in democratic country, the country is too far away to develop. They say,'if whoever wins the election, we can eat rice to stay alive only if we work for ourselves. The government doesn't feed us.' Yes! It's true! The government doesn't feed you. But, the government can change the country's economic conditions. If the country's economy was doing well, the businesses and occupations would get advance. It's not like that? So, we shouldn't be selfish and care just about our interests. We must also do what we have to do for our state.
If democracy doesn't work, then, dictatorship will fit for these people? No way! They protest the supreme authority. They don't accept the dictatorship for not counting on them in national affairs. Although democracy gives the right and opportunities to them, they waste them. So, is there a suitable system for those kind of people? Exactly, no! As we are living in democratic country, we must know that we are lucky. We are recognized as living creatures. That's why democracy allows us to choose our own national leaders. So, we must change ourselves. First, we must follow the democratic methods. We must pay attention in elections. We must vote the candidate who deserves to win. We must think the country's affairs are our affairs. The country's problems are our problems. And, we are responsible for our country.
Democracy is like a motor car: it can move forward to the goal only if it has enough oil as the force of people. Without essential oil, that car is just like a broken car. Like that, without the unity of people, democracy is a meaningless system.
Some people are abusing the term 'Democracy'. They do anarchical riots under the title of democracy. And, when they are punished for guilty, they say, 'What democracy! They don't get freedom.' No! It's wrong! Democracy doesn't mean 'Do whatever you want. Don't care the law.' Democratic nation doesn't mean 'Anarchy country'. Democracy gives freedom to us within the limit of rules of country.
As we are living in a democratic country, we all have to be educated. We must have enough knowledge and sense to distinguish the candidates' characters wisely. It is definitely sure that the corrupt candidates will also compete in elections. We all have the ability to unseat them through voting system of democracy. If we are uneducated and possess low intelligence, the corrupt officials are going to manipulate the country for sure for their own interests. Corrupt officials' heads are full of tricky ideas. They can easily get votes from unintelligent people by persuading to believe them. Winning the election is just a piece of cake for them as long as lots of uneducated persons are still alive within the country. Be mindful not to become the regretful conditions instead of enjoyable situations. Therefore, we must take notice that the privilege of democracy can turn into a trick of life to pass through the horrible days.
Democracy lets us to determine our country's future. Democracy asks this question 'The country will become a hell or heaven?' to us. The answer all depends on us.
As we are born in this territory of this country, we have duty to do for that country. We love our family, our relatives, our friends, and our ethnic groups. We must love each other and even the whole country. We are the ones who make our country proud. We are also the ones who make our country' pride decline. Other countries regard the level of our country by looking at our actions. So, we must try so that our country can proudly stand among other countries. If our country's pride is famous among other countries, we can also proudly walk among international societies.
See where we are living in. We are living in societies. We live with our own family. We live with our relative groups. We live with our same ethnic groups. We live with our indigenous people within our country. We all together must struggle to be able to live in better conditions. Democracy is giving us a chance to show our solidarity. We must show how our family, our relative group, our ethnic group, our whole country is united.
Democracy gives us freedom. Democracy gives us equality. Democracy gives us right. How perfect system for us! We shouldn't miss that opportunity, should we? It's time to show how perfect we are good citizens. It's time to show how dutiful for our state. The government can't implement democracy policy alone. We know we are the pillars of democracy. We must help our elected government with our hands. Then, the success what we always desired is near at hand.
So, with democracy, let's make our country honorably stand as a democratic state in international communities by involving ourselves as the pillars of democracy.
