The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has updated its guidance on how the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) requirements can be achieved by nurses and midwives trained outside of the EU/European Economic Area (EEA). All overseas applicants are still required to achieve a level of at least seven (out of a possible nine) in all categories – listening, reading, writing and speaking – of the academic version of the IELTS test.
